Gentry County, Missouri

Gentry County, nestled in the northwestern region of Missouri, was officially organized on February 14, 1841. It was named in honor of Colonel Richard Gentry, a respected figure from Boone County who lost his life during the Seminole War of 1837.

The county seat is Albany, which remains the largest city in the area. Gentry County spans approximately 492 square miles, with a landscape shaped by agriculture, small towns, and rural heritage.

Throughout the 19th century, the county experienced rapid population growth, peaking in the early 1900s. Like many rural counties, it saw a gradual decline in population over the 20th century, reflecting broader shifts in farming and migration patterns
